Which Nottingham Pub will you be going to this Christmas? Time to take a look at the best bars as reviewed by YOU!!
We decided to see what the good people of Nottingham had to say about the pubs and bars of the area on TripAdvisor and the results are not what we expected!
10. The Ladybay in West Bridgford
This West Bridgford pub offers food and beers from the Greene King stable of ales. One reviewer had this to say:
“Service excellent today. Staff attentive, polite and helpful. Much better than usual when bar gets ignored to serve food and lounge drinks. Lunch usually quiet in bar. Coffees promptly served and beers good.”
9. The Magpie in Stapleford
The Magpie in Stapleford seems popular with the locals recommending Sunday lunches and beer:
“The Magpie is a pub that serves food. We went for a Sunday lunch and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, Food was good with generous portions which in my wife’s case were too generous. Altogether a good lunch.”
8. The White Lion in Sandiacre
Food seems popular at this Sandiacre venue with one visitor saying:
“The place is cosy arranges and the staff very friendly. The menu not too expensive, which is always a good sign. I had the beef pie which was amazing. My colleagues were equally satisfied. Prices are really ok, so all in all a nice place to have a diner with colleagues.”
7. The Greyfriars
The best Irish Bar in Nottingham? This reviewer thinks so:
“I come here regularly with both family and friends. Always guaranteed an amazing time. Paul and the staff are always friendly and drinks are cheap. They often have great live music acts. There is a big sense of Irish community here but I have come with non-Irish friends and they’ve loved it and felt very welcome. This is great fun all weekend, both at night and in the day and is child friendly in the day. There is a real community spirit here, they host great charity events and also very reasonable to rent for a function.”
6. The Horse and Jockey
This popular Stapleford pub has something for everyone and the ale looks lovely too!
“Ace proper pub, open fire in winter, loads of guest ales and regular ales too, Full mash (local brewery)have a house ale which is nice. Food is snacks but great proper gear like pork pies and pickles etc”
5. The Peacock, Mansfield Road
This Mansfield road boozer is popular for food and its laid back atmosphere:
“Whilst visiting Nottingham and seeking out vegan establishments we came upon The Peacock. A no frills pub with a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.. (Loved the decor), and the menu offers a wide choice of comfort food,, battered sausage and chips … whats not to love,, great choice of ciders too. Visited on a week day and returned on the sunday for a midday roast and wasn’t disappointed. The ambiance is very laid back with retro music played on a turntable. If I lived in Nottingham this would certainly be my local.”
4. The Willow Tree Inn
Looking for a steak? This Nottingham Road venue is highly reccomended:
“Have been a regular for the past few years I thought it was about time I shared my experiences whilst using the establishment.
I have nothing but high praise for all who work at the willow tree from the beers to the food the service is always top class.
Special mention to Kevin and Stewart who make everyone feel very welcome.
The only downside is Kevin’s singing.
Ha only joking.x
Please visit this place you will not be disappointed”
3. Hogs Head Hotel
Popular with families, diners and drinkers. This Awsworth pub and hotel is very popular and it looks like the food is a hit too:
“I visited here last Friday for lunch. I had the braided beef whilst my fella had the lasagne and chips.
Firstly, my favourite food is lasagne but the reason I don’t order it in a restaurant is because they never deliver it up to my expectations. Well I wish I would have ordered it here. It was exactly what I want. Actually big chunks of beef mince with lots of sauce and a nice portion size. My beef was also really good, and the home cooked chips were lovely. Even though we were both full after mains we had to have a dessert as they sounded fantastic. My fella ordered the hogs chocolate cake and I ordered the jam sponge. Again I could not fault the desserts. Delicious and home main. I will definitely be returning and recommending”
2. The Barrel Drop
This Micropub is one of Nottinghams best kept secrets with lots of recommendations for its Real Ale:
“This little gem may not be easy to find, I had to ask three different police officers for directions before being give the correct location, but it’s well worth tracking down. It has a good choice of some fantastic real ales and a discount given to card carrying CAMRA members. I live in Boston but I’m now paying regular visits to the Barrel Drop, this is one of my favourite real ale haunts.”
1. Brewdog Nottingham
Nottinghams best pub as reviewed by you is Brewdogs bar in the Lace Market. Its would seem that its blend of great ale, food and a cracking atmosphere are a hit:
“Always a good selection of beer with staff that are willing to help you choose what you want; recommend a beer or give you a taster. One of the top beer spots in Notts. They also have different events on each week and offer a decent selection of take out beers”
