Family run Nottingham taxi company DG Cars are proud to announce the addition of more green energy vehicles to its fleet.
Four years ago DG Cars became the first taxi firm in Nottingham to add electric cars to their vehicle line-up.
The company purchased six Nissan LEAFs, with the view of adding more if the electric taxis proved popular with passengers. That time has now arrived.
Electric cars have proved to be popular with customers and DG are as committed now as they were four years ago to green energy.
The Nissan LEAF has an approximate range of 124 miles off a full charge, depending on driving style, and benefits the environment with zero tailpipe emissions. Moreover, travelling by electric taxi will ensure a much quieter and smoother ride than a conventionally powered vehicle.
DG Cars sees electric cars as a future investment, which will recoup the extra initial outlay in the long-term.
Amjid Javad, managing director of DG Cars, said: “They do cost more – but having electric cars is not something we have done to make money in the first year, it’s something that will be good for business in years to come.
We are committed to making Nottingham a greener city without passing on the cost to our valued customers”
The company also have 220 Hybrid cars in use across the fleet of 800 vehicles in operation in Nottingham.
DG has ordered six further Nissan LEAFs which will be in operation in the coming weeks.
In addition to the new cars DG has also made several enquiries with manufacturers regarding the purchase of Self Driving Cars ensuring that they always have one eye on the future.
